Saturday 1st May 2010

Cast your minds back nine months; London, bright sunshine and a season so full of hope was upon us - the blues go down 3-2 to a strong Charlton side, but boy did we give them a scare. "Play like that and you'll be fine this year" some said, "Not just here to make up the numbers" said some others.

Now, back to the present; London, overcast and a season so full of misery was almost behind us. The blues took some 40 games to get going BUT three wins and a draw provided a glimmer of hope. "That Revell lad ain't as shit as we thought", "If we win 'em all and noone else does then we'll be fine" and "Gillingham at home, it'll come down to Gillingham at home. Massive". And they all seemed correct. Revell WASN'T shit, if we'd won our last two and noone else did then we WOULD be fine and then it WOULD come down to Gillingham at home.

So it seemed only fitting that we'd return to the city of BRIGHT sunshine and opening day HOPE to see Wycombe go down 2-0 to Leyton Orient, everyone else win and the DREAM be over. Come 4:50pm, the only thing more upsetting than people turning up dressed as Ali G (seriously, 2001?) was the fact that Wycombe had left LEAGUE ONE a lot more emphatically than they'd entered it. And it was fucking raining.

Next week, Gillingham at home. Meh.
